Although this is not a blog about politics, I must share that we woke up to great news this morning. Something we've been waiting for for 12 years, has finally happened:

After being in hiding for 12 years, the former leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Radovan Karadžić was arrested in Belgrade and will be extradited to the International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague! Praise God!

This man has caused countless people's suffering for many years, here's what the official charges against him are:
  • Fifteen counts of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and other atrocities
  • Charged for the killing of some 12,000 civilians during the siege of Sarajevo
  • Allegedly organised the massacre of at least 7,500 Muslim men and youths in Srebrenica
  • Targeted Bosnian Muslim and Croat political leaders, intellectuals and professionals
  • Unlawfully deported and transferred civilians because of national or religious identity
  • Destroyed homes, businesses and sacred sites
Read more about it here.

Update: Radovan Karadžić lived under the pseudonym Dragan Dabić and worked in the field of alternative medicine in Belgrade. Nobody (not even his employer or his landlord) knew who he really was, since he looks so much different. Here is a picture, the transformation is quite amazing.
